I was tired of the same movies every algorithm, list, and social feed recommends me.
Then I started to notice a pattern among the few movies I totally enjoyed: when I looked them up on Wikipedia, every single article says the film had received acclaim from critics.
And that got me wondering: what if there are many more like them on Wikipedia, and I would enjoy all of them? Hell yeah!
So I wrote a Python script and let it do its thing on my old Thinkpad laptop for 12 hours on the entire 150GB Wikipedia english archive.
The result? Over 1,800 movies, from 83 countries, across 19 genres, dating back to the 1910s. And here's the best part: They're hundreds of hidden gems that not only you won't find recommended anywhere else, but also you will totally enjoy watching from start to finish!
